HuMach at the ISA Annual Convention

2-5 March 2025

HuMach was represented by Anna Nadibaidze and Denise Garcia at the International Studies Association (ISA) annual convention in Chicago, US. At the panel “Human-Machine Relations in International Security: A Cross-Disciplinary Examination”, Anna Nadibaidze presented her draft research entitled “Navigating Global Narratives of Responsible AI in the Military Domain”. Denise Garcia acted as discussant on the panel, which also featured presentations by Anna-Katharina Ferl (Stanford), Liska Suckau (PRIF), Robin Vanderborght (Antwerp), Stefka Schmid (TU Darmstadt), and Jeff Sherman (Berry College).

Conference: Military AI and the Resort to Force

Ingvild Bode was a speaker at the conference “Military AI and the Resort to Force”, held on 27 February 2025 at the Center for Military Studies, University of Copenhagen. She discussed issues related to command-level human-machine interaction together with Elke Schwarz (Queen Mary University of London), Brianna Rosen (University of Oxford) and Lena Trabucco (University of Edinburgh).

Panel discussion organised by the Danish Red Cross

Ingvild Bode contributed to a panel discussion organised by the Danish Red Cross on the occasion of 75 years of the Geneva Convention. Together with Kevin Jon Heller (University of Copenhagen), Richard Lennane (ICRC), and Iben Yde (Rethink Advisory), she discussed the continued significance of the rules of war in light of future warfare and the integration of autonomous and AI technologies in weapon systems.
