Distributed Agency
Theme 1
This theme explores theoretical reflections and conceptualisations of distributed agency as a consequence of human-machine interaction in the military domain. It draws on a synthesis of disciplinary insights from International Relations and Science and Technology Studies.
Responsible AI and Human-Machine Interaction
Theme 2
This theme unpacks the Responsible AI agenda in the military domain and its constituting narratives. It examines whether these narratives include or ignore the phenomenon of distributed agency arising from human-machine interaction. It maps and offers novel empirical insights into how military personnel in the UK and the US experience interacting with AI technologies.
Governance Demands
Theme 3
This theme explores governance demands raised by the phenomenon of distributed agency. This includes studying current governance initiatives in the military domain and contributing concrete sets of recommendations.
